Our Churches

The parishes of Wortham and Burgate has two magnificent churches, St Mary of Pity, Burgate and St Mary The Virgin, Wortham.

The two villages are served by the Church of St Mary the Virgin in Wortham and St Mary of Pity in Burgate.

Both are part of a wider Benefice, known as North Hartismere, which comprises seven churches in six parishes. The churches may be described as middle of the road Anglican.

There is at least one service in each local church, with at least one Eucharist/Holy Communion within the Benefice, every Sunday. There are also services during the week and, of course, all major festivals are celebrated. The timetable of services is displayed in each church porch.

It is also published in the Benefice Newsletter, which will be delivered to your house on request.

Other Christian denominations are served within the neighbouring area, particularly in nearby Diss.
